The PlayStation VR2 scores 75/100 and has the best VR display technology at this price point — dual 2K OLED HDR panels that make Quest headsets look soft by comparison.
110-degree field of view, eye tracking with foveated rendering, haptic feedback built into the headset itself (not just the controllers), and adaptive trigger controllers. Performance scores 90/100. For AAA VR gaming, nothing under $1,000 comes close. Exclusive titles like Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Call of the Mountain, and Resident Evil Village in VR are stunning.
The critical limitation: you need a PS5 ($499 separately). No standalone mode. No mixed reality. Smaller game library than Quest. That compatibility score of 40/100 reflects the locked-in nature — PS5 or nothing.
At $399, it's been as low as $299 and the original MSRP was $549.99. "Fair price" at $399, but $299 deals happen during sales. The price has dropped dramatically since launch — Sony is clearly trying to move units.
